Under 65 Health Insurance

If you’re under 65, you won’t qualify for Medicare unless you have received Social Security disability benefits for 24 months, or have end-stage renal disease (permanent kidney failure). However, it’s important that you keep paying the necessary taxes so that you will be eligible when the time comes.

Doing this will ensure that you have access to all of the different Medicare options.

You Have Options. You Have Options.

If you’re not yet eligible for Medicare, then you’re probably wondering what your options are for health insurance. It’s important that you have a specific policy so you’re not left with thousands of dollars in uncovered medical bills, should something happen to you.

Those that are under 65 have a few different options for health insurance. Let’s go over what those choices are, so that you can make an informed decision about which one is right for you. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out and we can schedule a no-obligation appointment.

Employer Health Coverage

It’s common for people under 65 to get health insurance through their employer. Most employers will have some sort of access to different health insurance options to choose from, and you can ask your HR department for more information.

But not all employers offer a competitive group health plan, and some just aren’t able to offer one. So for those who are unable to get employer coverage, there are other options available, and that’s where we come in.

Individual Health Plans

Everyone’s situation is unique. We’re able to customize health insurance plans to meet the needs of the individual. And many of these plans are available through the ACA marketplace. Maybe you’re looking for a low-cost plan only for emergencies. Maybe you need a plan with higher coverage and lower out-of-pocket costs. Or maybe you’d like something in between. Just tell us your price range and coverage needs, and we’ll take it from there.

Family Health Plans

Family is everything. Protect your loved ones’ health and future with an insurance plan. We can help you select coverage that is tailored to your family, without costing you an arm and a leg.

Short-Term Health Plans

If you need coverage as soon as tomorrow to cover the next 30 to 90 days, we can help you secure immediate insurance for you and/or your family. Depending on the carrier we match you with, it’s possible to make ONE payment for the whole coverage period.

Essential Benefits of Marketplace Plans

Under the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, most health insurance plans are HMOs or PPOs. Other types include the less common EPO or POS. But ALL marketplace plans must provide, at minimum, a menu of essential benefits, including:

🔬  Laboratory Services

🚑  Ambulatory Services

🏥  Hospitalization Services

💊  Prescription Medications

🚨  Urgent & Emergency Care

🤱  Maternity & Newborn Care

🩺  Preventative & Wellness Services

🧠  Mental Health & Drug Abuse Services

👉  Rehabilitative and Habilitative Services

🦷  Pediatric Services (Including Dental Care for Kids)

Medicare and Medicaid

When it comes to Medicare, the typical eligibility age is 65. However, there are some ways to qualify earlier. The main way that you can qualify before 65 is to have a specific disability. Some diagnoses will qualify you for various Medicare plans, so that’s important to keep in mind. Some individuals are known as dual-eligibles because they qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid.

Special Needs Plans

Special Needs Plans are a specific type of Medicare Advantage plan. They’re extremely unique and one of the best ways to save money when it comes to medical costs. Each Special Needs Plan is made specifically for the diagnosis that a person has, so the coverage is made for the typical medical needs of a particular group. Special Needs Plans will include prescription drug coverage. Contact your insurance agent to learn more and see if you qualify.

Health Insurance Costs Vary

The cost of your health insurance policy will vary. It depends on whether you qualify for premium tax credits (subsidies). There are four basic types of plans: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. The plans can combine different premiums, deductibles, and co-pays. However, you’ll be able to estimate what your out of pocket costs will be under each type.
